What is to become of Hewitt Street? Network Rail Property has refurbed three units under the arches round the back of Deansgate Station, just opposite Castlefield Gallery and a minute’s walk from Atlas and Knott Bar. The units, zoned for retail/business/f&b, are 167-251sqm; annual rent is £25,200-£37,900 + VAT. Glass fronts, concrete floors, mezzanine level as standard.
Does the city need more bars? Does anyone have the balls to open another restaurant during these straightened times? Could this be the start of a new gallery district? Or an edgy extension of Deansgate’s furniture store strip? More likely to be home to a new branding agency/architects/PR firm.
But not a mechanic.
