A condensed, upmarket newspaper priced at 20p, offering markedly more quality than the freesheets while drastically cheaper than the (former) broadsheets.
The Independent is to repackage its content in a smaller, more concise alternative aimed at commuters. It launches next Tuesday and hopes to shift 400,000 copies a day.
Still not convinced if I’d pay for it, but I love the idea: repackaging content into segment-appropriate forms
Given the amount of free news and content online (pictures and copy), I’d expect to see amateur enthusiasts cutting-and-pasting their own daily papers – given the right print and distribution help. Some might have an emphasis on football, or music, or technology. All part of the (alarming?) trend for consumers to only take the news and views they want to hear/read/see.
