I moved back from Dubai to Manchester in January 2009. Diesel was less than a £1/litre. Today it’s £1.37 and tipped to reach £1.50 by the end of the summer. So far, no protests, just a weary inevitability.
Car insurance is also up (around 40 per cent last year, according to the AA). And the roads (in Chorlton) are pocked by potholes. Driving is expensive and not that fun.
No surprise that the Audi A1 is the What Car? car of the Year. Low insurance, good mileage, and retains its value. But what’s it like over potholes?
