I would like to see Manchester’s Mersey put to more use. There’s never anything on it. To start, I’d like a Dutch-style dyke jumping contest, possibly to take place near Jackson’s Boat at Chorlton Ees (above), with contestants dressed in tutus: Fairy Across The Mersey.
Some kind of raft race to follow. Charity/community involvement, get there before the corporates nab it. Easy.
It’s not expected to carry passengers until 2016, but the Metrolink route south from Chorlton to the airport is already being prepped.
