A lovely day. Family swim in the baby pool, free parking near the Mark Addy, the People’s History Museum, soup at MOSI and the sun shining through a deserted Spinningfields.

Autumn at Dunham
A trip to Manchester
£3 all-day parking on the site of the old BBC Oxford Road. Central Library for coffee, audio books and Rae’s bedtime reading, Changos for lunch and the Art Gallery for some kids stuff.
A trip to Bisham
A work trip to Bisham Abbey, near Marlow, on a warm, early Autumn day. What a lovely place; hadn’t realised the sports complex was so big/important. Dinner at the Royal Oak the evening before.
The new Tebay
Gloucester Services, northbound M5, from the people that brought us the excellent Tebay. Having worked for four years at Knutsford Services (M6, Junction 19), I wish there were more services like this. Where else would you see locally sourced fresh veg at 9.30pm on a Saturday.
Golf Annual
The annual 36 holes of golf, crammed into one day. Saunton East & West courses. 27 points off 13 for East, 26 for West. Too many blobs.
A lovely day, warm and dry, with good company. Thanks to Olli, Ross, Shed, Ads and Mark.

Five new podcasts added to my Downcast, helping smooth the longer, schools-back commute.
- Little Atoms

- Lexicon Valley, from Slate
- Word Mouth, from Radio 4
In the meantime, the view from my desk (above) remains leafy.
Hey, Hey Avebury
Old pics, forgot I had them. From Avebury, a National Trust property in Wiltshire, in early Spring. Stone circles, Neolithic burial chambers, a restored manor house, Bronze Age ‘barrows’…they’ve even got a Henge! A lovely part of England.
